The 1878 lineup spans compact handgun-and-document safes to full-size floor safes for serious long gun collections. The models are grouped here by configuration type. How to match safe size to your collection, space, and entry path.
Wide Models (56" Exterior Width)
Call before ordering: Both 65-models are 56 inches wide and will not pass a standard 36-inch doorframe without removing the door and frame. Confirm your entry path, hallway clearance, and floor rating before placing an order on either model. Call us at 208-454-8038.
1878-65T: Up to 65 Long Guns (Tall)
1,325 lbs, 58 cubic feet, 72-inch height. The tallest and heaviest model in the lineup. Twelve Axis shelves and 4 High Capacity Barrel Racks. All-gun configuration holds 52 long guns; half-shelf runs 39; door holds 13. For collections above 40 guns or buyers who want maximum capacity in a single safe. The 56-inch width and 1,325-lb weight require pre-order planning for every installation.
1878-65: Up to 65 Long Guns (Standard Height)
1,105 lbs, 49 cubic feet, 60-inch height. Same 56-inch width as the 65T, 12 inches shorter. Eight Axis shelves and 4 High Capacity Barrel Racks. For installations with ceiling height constraints or staircase clearances where the 65T's 72-inch height is a problem. Same pre-order entry path requirement applies: 56-inch width requires doorframe removal to pass.
Standard Models (Fit Standard 36" Doorframe)
1878-49T: Up to 49 Long Guns (Tall)
1,070 lbs, 45 cubic feet, 72-inch height, 43-inch width. The tallest model that clears a standard 36-inch doorframe. Eight Axis shelves and 3 High Capacity Barrel Racks. All-gun configuration holds 39 long guns; half-shelf runs 26; door holds 10. For buyers who want full height and do not need the 56-inch width of the 65-models. Delivery planning required at 1,070 lbs.
1878-49: Up to 49 Long Guns (Standard Height)
890 lbs, 38 cubic feet, 60-inch height, 43-inch width. Same width as the 49T, 12 inches shorter. Five Axis shelves and 3 High Capacity Barrel Racks. For installations where overhead clearance rules out a 72-inch model or where a basement staircase limits height. Lightest of the full-size 49-capacity models at 890 lbs.
1878-33: Up to 33 Long Guns
60-inch height, 31-inch width, 27 cubic feet. Four Axis shelves and 2 High Capacity Barrel Racks. All-gun configuration holds 26 long guns; half-shelf runs 13; door holds 7. Weight not confirmed in source data: contact us at 208-454-8038 to confirm before ordering. The 31-inch width fits where the 43-inch and 56-inch models do not. Best for collections in the 15-to-25 range in tighter spaces.
Compact Models (Different Interior Configuration)
1878-19: Up to 5 Long Guns
715 lbs, 19 cubic feet, 60-inch height, 25-3/4-inch width. Four CMS adjustable shelves. Long gun capacity of 1 to 5, with a barrel rack for that range. Round bolt configuration rather than rectangular Max Bolts. Electrical outlet included. For buyers with smaller collections or buyers who need a compact safe in a space that will not accommodate the 1878-33.
1878-13: Up to 5 Long Guns (Compact)
465 lbs, 13 cubic feet, 42-inch height, 26-inch width. The lightest and most compact model in the lineup. Four CMS shelves, 7 locking bolts (4 active), round bolt configuration. No electrical outlet. No Floor Stock Holder. LED lighting included. This model's 42-inch height is meaningfully shorter than all other 1878 models. For buyers who need a compact safe in a restricted space and whose collection is 5 long guns or fewer. If your collection is larger or actively growing, the 1878-33 full model is worth evaluating first.
