We Help You Choose the Right Safe. Not the Most Expensive One.

AL'S Vault & Safe has spent 32 years doing one thing: helping homeowners, ranchers, and business owners across Western Idaho and Eastern Oregon make protection decisions they're confident in. We sell safes. We deliver and install them ourselves. And we're here when something needs service years later. That's the whole relationship.

Our Approach

We Ask Before We Recommend

A safe that's right for a Meridian homeowner with three handguns isn't right for a McCall rancher storing documents and a rifle collection through a wildfire season. We start with your situation before we show you anything on the floor.

We diagnose before we recommend.

The first question we ask isn't "what's your budget." It's "what are you protecting, and from what?" Your risk profile, storage needs, and placement situation drive the recommendation. The product comes after.

We match protection to actual risk.

Most buyers overpay for fire protection they don't need, or underpay for theft protection that leaves them exposed. We tell you which matters more for your situation, and why, before you spend anything.

We tell you what won't work, too.

If your floor load won't support a safe in the placement you have in mind, we say so. If a 24-gun safe is the wrong size for your collection three years from now, we'll say that too. Honest advice is more useful than a closed sale.

We stay involved after the sale.

Our delivery and installation crew is in-house. Not a third-party freight company. We anchor, position, and walk you through the lock before we leave. Years later, if a lock needs service or you're moving, we're still here.

The Team

Three People. Over 45 Combined Years in This Business.

AL'S Vault & Safe isn't a big-box operation with rotating staff and outsourced delivery. It's three people who know this product and this service area deeply.

Jason has 23 years in safes: sales, delivery, lock service, and everything in between. Merlin has 16 years running deliveries and installs across the footprint, including the kinds of moves most crews turn down. Nikki has been on the sales floor for six years. Between the three of them, they've seen nearly every install situation this region produces.

When you call, you talk to one of them. Not a call center.

Jason
23 Years

Sales, delivery, lock service and repair. The person you're most likely to talk to first.

Merlin
16 Years

Delivery and installation lead. Handles the moves most people say can't be done.

Nikki
6 Years

Sales floor. Helps buyers think through sizing, placement, and what protection level is right for their situation.

What We've Done

Authority Built From the Work, Not From Marketing.

Three factory authorizations. One delivery and installation crew we've built and kept in-house for over three decades. A track record across 3,500-plus installs in a service area that runs from Treasure Valley to the Oregon border.

An 1,100-lb Safe. A Split Staircase. One Crew.

We moved an 1,100-pound safe up a split staircase that required lifting, re-blocking mid-move, and working around a landing that left no margin for error. It wasn't a first for us. Our crew has handled enough complex moves to know that the installs that look impossible from the outside are usually just installs that take preparation and experience. Yours is not the first difficult placement we've seen.

A 3,300-lb Historic Safe. Installed.

The largest safe we've ever moved was an 1860s-era seven-layer steel safe weighing 3,300 pounds. Modern retail safes top out well below that. We include this not to claim a world record, but because it reflects something real: when you've installed across that range, a 600-pound Liberty Lincoln or a 900-pound gun room vault is a known problem, not an unknown one.

The Fire Rating Stickers That Told Us Everything.

Years ago, a supplier sent us safes with incorrect fire rating labels. When we flagged it, they offered to send replacement stickers. We stopped carrying that supplier. A fire rating on a sticker is only meaningful if the test behind it is real. It's part of why we carry Liberty, Browning, and AMSEC. We can tell you specifically what their ratings cover and where they stop.

Our Footprint

The Region Changes the Question.

A suburban Meridian home, a Caldwell tradesman's property, a McCall second home above 5,000 feet, and a Wood River Valley residence in wildland-urban interface country are four different protection situations. The right safe for each of them is different. The right placement in each of them is different. The fire risk context in each of them is different.

We've worked across all of it. That regional exposure is part of what makes the advice useful.

Treasure Valley

Fast-growth suburban corridor. High-density neighborhoods with shorter emergency response. Theft protection weight matters here.

Mountain Communities (McCall, Sun Valley)

Wildland-urban interface. Seasonal occupancy. Wildfire risk is a documented reality, not a hypothetical. Fire ratings need honest context in this footprint.

Rural and Ranch Properties

Longer law enforcement response times. Isolated locations. Firearm storage and home protection both rank higher on the priority list.

Eastern Oregon (Malheur County)

Agricultural footprint. Rural property characteristics. Similar response-time and isolation profile to rural Idaho.

Come See the Safes in Person.

You can't judge a safe's quality from a photo or a spec sheet. The weight, the door swing, the locking mechanism, the interior layout: these things read differently when you're standing in front of them. We keep about 40 safes on the floor for exactly that reason.
