The Cool Pocket is a document bag with a 70% fabric, 30% foil heat shield material that keeps its contents up to 50 degrees cooler than the surrounding safe interior. That temperature buffer adds a second layer of protection between your documents and the heat.
Four expandable one-inch compartments let you organize passports, deeds, certificates, and currency in one place. A velcro flap and double-pull zipper keep everything closed and accessible. At 10" tall by 12" wide, it fits on any safe shelf and can also serve as a grab bag if you need to leave in a hurry.

Where to Use It
The Cool Pocket is designed to be used inside a fire-rated gun safe or home safe. The heat shield material works by slowing the transfer of heat from the safe interior to the bag's contents. It supplements the safe's fire rating. It does not replace it.
Used outside a fire-rated safe, the bag provides no meaningful fire protection on its own. Its value comes from pairing it with an existing rated safe to add a second layer of thermal protection for the most sensitive documents inside.
Supplement, not a substitute. The Cool Pocket adds thermal buffer inside a fire-rated safe. It is not a fire-resistant safe on its own and should not be treated as one. If your safe does not have a fire rating, the Cool Pocket will not provide meaningful document protection against fire.
How It Works
The bag's wall is made of a 70% fabric, 30% foil composite. The foil component slows the transfer of heat through the bag material, creating a cooler zone inside the bag relative to the temperature in the safe interior around it. Liberty's specification puts that difference at up to 50 degrees Fahrenheit during a fire event.
Paper scorches at around 385°F and ignites at around 451°F. A fire-rated safe is designed to keep the interior below 350°F for its rated duration. The Cool Pocket's additional 50-degree buffer widens the margin between the safe's interior temperature and the threshold at which documents begin to degrade.
Common Questions
Does this work as a standalone fire bag without a safe?
No. The Cool Pocket is designed to go inside a fire-rated safe, where it provides additional thermal buffering on top of the safe's existing protection. Used on its own, the bag's material will slow heat transfer to some degree, but it is not tested or rated as a standalone fire protection product. Pair it with a fire-rated safe for the protection it is designed to provide.
How many documents fit in each compartment?
Each of the four compartments expands to about 1 inch deep, which holds a reasonable stack of standard documents. A full-size passport fits in a standard compartment without folding. Standard letter-size documents may need to be folded to fit the 12" wide opening. Most buyers use one compartment per category: passports and IDs, property documents, financial records, and copies of insurance policies, for example.
Can I use multiple Cool Pockets in one safe?
Yes. Several buyers keep three to five in the same safe to separate documents by category or household member. At 10" x 12" collapsed, two or three fit comfortably on a standard safe shelf side by side. If you use more than one, labeling each with a strip of masking tape on the outside keeps them sorted at a glance.
Can I use it as an emergency grab bag?
Yes, and this is one of the more practical uses. Keeping your most critical documents pre-loaded in the Cool Pocket means you can pull it out of the safe and go during an evacuation without sorting through loose papers. The double-pull zipper and velcro flap keep everything contained while you move.
