Fire Protection
1-3/8-inch door insulation · Palusol expanding fire seal (all configurations)
Browning vault doors do not carry a minute-based fire rating equivalent to a safe. What they carry is 1-3/8 inches of door insulation and a Palusol heat-activated expanding fire seal that closes the gap between the door and the frame as temperature rises. This is passive fire resistance built into the door itself. The fire protection level of your vault room depends on this door system working in combination with the wall, ceiling, and floor construction of the room behind it. A vault door in a room with standard drywall walls provides door-level fire resistance; a vault room with reinforced concrete walls provides a fundamentally different level of protection. How vault door fire insulation compares to a safe's certified fire rating.
